NEW: Recent Results Submission

Authors are welcome to submit their recent results (ongoing research, preliminary results, etc.) to be presented at the symposium. Authors in this session will have 10 minutes to present (7+3 min). Submissions should be original and limited to 2 double-column pages and should follow IEEE paper templates. Only Adobe PDF files will be accepted and the submission must be emailed to George.hallak@hs-ruhrwest.de with the Subject line "Recent results submission" by February 19, 2016. Notification of acceptance by February 22, 2016. Please note that these submissions will not go through a formal peer-review process, but the TPC will check its suitability for ISPLC. Also, it will not appear in the official proceedings or IEEE Xplore.

IEEE ISPLC 2016 CALL FOR PAPERS

The 2016 IEEE International Symposium on Power Line Communications and its Applications (ISPLC) will be the 20th symposium dedicated to scientific and technical advances in the field of communications over power lines. The event is organized by the IEEE Communications Society Technical Committee on Power Line Communications (TC-PLC, http://committees.comsoc.org/plc). The conference will be held at the Ruhr West University of Applied Sciences, Bottrop, Germany, from March 20th to March 23th 2016.

IEEE ISPLC will focus on key aspects of communications theory, algorithms, standards, measurements, implementations, evaluation of field trials and network operation pertaining to communications via power lines. The traditional strength of ISPLC is a high industry participation, and bringing together researchers, practitioners and users of power line communication technology is a main objective for IEEE ISPLC 2016.

Acceptance of submissions will be based on quality, relevance, and originality, with awards for the best submissions. Accepted papers will be published in the IEEE ISPLC 2016 proceedings and in IEEExplore. The conference will further include a series of keynote and plenary talks, as well as an industry forum and special sessions on hot topics for utilities, system integrators and chip manufacturers.

Submissions are invited in, but not limited to, the following areas:

• PLC for smart grids
• Access, in-home and in-vehicle power line networks
• Field trial evaluations, identified problems, required improvements
• Performance measurements and comparability of field trials
• Channel characterization, modeling, emulation, and experimental systems
• Cognitive, cooperative, and autonomous approaches
• Modulation, coding and signal processing for PLC
• MIMO and multi-user PLC
• Electromagnetic compatibility, interference and coupling issues
• Green communications and energy saving concepts for narrow- and broadband PLC
modems
• Multiple access techniques and protocols for PLC networks
• Multi hop routing in PLC and combined PLC / wireless networks
• Cross-layer optimization and service integration
• System architectures and security issues
• Management and documentation for large PLC networks (i.e. tools)
• Measurement concepts, protocols and tools for PLC modems roll-out
• Quality and interoperability /-changeability tests of chip-sets and modems
• PLC standardization and regulation
• Emerging PLC-related technologies

Important dates:

Submission of full papers:     December 07, 2015
Notification of Acceptance:   January 15, 2016
Camera-ready papers due:   February 22, 2016

To be published in the IEEE ISPLC 2016 Conference Proceedings and to be eligible for publication in IEEE Xplore, at least one of the authors of an accepted paper is required to register for the conference at the full (member or non-member) rate and the paper must be presented by an author of that paper at the conference unless a TPC Co-Chair grants permission for a substitute presenter arranged in advance of the event and who is qualified both to present and answer questions. Non-refundable registration fees must be paid prior to uploading the final IEEE formatted, publication-ready version of the paper. For authors with multiple accepted papers, one full registration is valid for up to 3 papers. Accepted and presented papers will be published in the IEEE ISPLC 2016 Conference Proceedings and submitted to IEEE Xplore.
